Ryan’s site is all about lists, most of them prompted by myself. But one that sparked my attention was one suggested by Phoe: Top 5 songs at your funeral. Here’s what I came up with to put the fun back in Funeral. I don’t want my funeral to be a huge cryfest. There’s an old Irish saying, “The only difference between an Irish wedding and an Irish Funeral is one less person getting drunk.” You can cry for a little bit, but then as Wayne once said, “Party on.”

1. Frank Sinatra – My Way

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

2. Steve Warner - Holes In The Floor Of Heaven

I catch her eye
As the rain starts comin' down
She takes my hand says daddy don't be sad 'cause
I know momma's watchin' now
And there's holes in the floor of heaven
And her tears are pourin down
That's how you know she's watchin'
Wishin' she could be here now
And sometimes when I’m lonely
I remember she can see
There's holes in the floor of heaven
And she's watchin' over you and me

3. Stephen Speaks –Leaving Song

Though I wish that I were with you now
I know there's a reason for a space
I can dream of memories you're writing down
And I look forward to that day
And the smile on your face

4. Vertical Horizon – Goodbye My Friend

This world spinning
Time always winning
The silverchains keep thinning and
This is just your beginning
Sleep my friend
At last be free
No we won't forget
Our merriest melody
Gone to another place
Of carousel rides round an angel's face
I'm sure we'd both laugh at the sight
My friend goodnight

5. Bruce Springsteen – You’re Missing

Pictures on the nightstand, TV's on in the den
Your house is waiting, your house is waiting
For you to walk in, for you to walk in
But you're missing, you're missing
You’re missing, when I shut out the lights
You're missing, when I close my eyes
You're missing, when I see the sun rise
You're missing

Peace...
